Handwoven small mat made using wild eri and tussar silk & organic nettle yarns with a natural linen warp.

About the ethical yarns used in this piece:

Silk yarn handspun using waste silk, the two tone of this silk yarn is obtained by two types of silk worm feeding on two different plants, the silk is then spun together. These silk worms are found in wild forests eating off the trees.

Wild silk is a way of gathering the silk fibres without any disturbance or harm made to the silk worm. The silk is harvested after the moth has left its cocoon and is no longer in need of it.

Organic nettle fibres used in this piece are naturally grown & harvested in Napal.

All yarns are ethically sourced & chosen with care. Handspun in rural India supporting a small women’s cooperative.
